Famous pilgrim centre in India may
further be developed and elevated as one of the
international level pilgrimage/ spiritual destinations.
According to available information, 10,00,000 pilgrims
and tourists visit this island mainly to see Kapil Muni
Temple on the confluence of river Hooghly and Bay of
Bengal. While nearly 50% come for Makar Sankranti
Festival [on Paus Sankranti], the other 50% come
through out the year and regularly combine sightseeing
with their primary motive of pilgrimage .
