Sundarban Development Board with the launching of IFAD-assisted
Project introduced the programme element "brackish
aquaculture" and fish farm activities. Under the
programme fish
culture operation is running in Jharkhali Fish Farm
under Basanti Block of 24-Pgs(S) having a total land
area of 50ha [water area 12 ha].
Non-conventional Energy
-
Due to peculiar geographical situation the connectivity
with
conventional electricity in all villages of Sundarban
seems to be impossible in near future. The
Board undertook some programmes of Non-conventional
Energy Sources to provide power supply
to the hostels of academic institutions and to
individual households of remote riverine areas.
160 units of
SHLS (Solar Home Lighting System) installed in 54 School
Hostels located in Island Areas of Sundarban.
250 units
of SSLP (Solar Street Lighting System) has been
installed at Ferry Ghats, Jetty Ghats, Markets,
Hospitals etc. of Sundarban Region.
A programme
for provides SHLS to the Tribal Households of Sundarban
on 100% subsidy basis has been taken up. |
