Additional Central Assistance (ACA)
Govt.
of India sanctioned a total amount of Rs. 2500 lakh
under this programme for a period of 2003-04 to 2005-06.
This department undertook different civil works
programme with this fund for the development of
Sundarbans. Major works taken up were development of
communication infrastructure, strengthening of river
embankments, sinking of tube-wells for drinking water
supply and minor irrigation project for rainwater
harvesting etc. Fund utilized so far is Rs. 2331.81 lakh.
The u/C of fund has been submitted through the
Development & Planning Department.
It may be mentioned here that some of the schemes taken
up under this programme are still continuing and the
liabilities are to be made. But in the current year’s
Budget Estimate there is no provision of fund under this
head. However considering the liability, the Finance
Deaprtment has been moved for making provision for a
total amount of Rs. 168.19 lakh in the current year’s
Budget of the SA Deaprtment and to allot the same for
settlement of the arrear claims.
